Biography

Dr. Zhao obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology Sciences from the East China Normal University at Shanghai, China in 2003, following graduation she continued her study and obtained a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the School of Medicine, University of Louisville in 2007. From 2008 to 2011, Dr. Zhao worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Division of Immune Regulation at La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology, San Diego, California. During her fellowship, Dr. Zhao focused her interest in studying immune responses against vaccinia virus (VACV) infection and developing VACV based vaccine adjuvant at cellular level. Her work has been published in peer review journals and was awarded Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Awards F32 from National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
